Message from the Principal
PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear MLK Families,
On behalf of Mrs. Behling, Assistant Principal, Ms. Sweeting, Assistant Principal, and our dedicated teachers, staff, and faculty, I am delighted to welcome you to the 2026–2027 school year at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School.
As I embark on my first year as principal, I invite you to embrace our theme for the year: "Rooted in Excellence. Growing Stronger Together."
While I may be new to MLK, I am keenly aware of the traditions, values, and commitment to excellence that make this school community so special. I look forward to honoring those traditions while working alongside students, staff, and families to strengthen them even further. Through the hard work and dedication of our scholars and staff, we will continue to embrace new ideas, pursue growth, and rise to new challenges together.
This important work is only possible through the support and partnership of our families. As we collaborate to create a learning environment that is both physically and emotionally safe for every scholar, I ask our MLK families to join us in three important commitments:
- Always consider the needs of scholars first. Together, let us make decisions that support the academic, social, and emotional well-being of every child.
- Communicate openly and respectfully. Meaningful collaboration begins with honest, constructive communication focused on student success.
- Build and maintain a culture of trust. By respecting one another, assuming positive intent, and working together, we create a community where everyone feels valued and supported.
As our school's namesake, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., once said, "We may have all come on different ships, but we're in the same boat now." We honor the unique strengths, experiences, and perspectives that each member of our MLK family brings to our community. Together, we look forward to celebrating the growth and achievements of every scholar throughout the school year and beyond.
With excitement and gratitude,
Mrs. Kimberly Clinton
Proud Principal of Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School
