AIS Support
What is AIS?
At Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary, we believe every child can succeed with the right support.
Academic Intervention Services (AIS) provide extra help in reading, writing, and math for students who need additional time and practice to meet grade-level expectations.
What does it look like?
AIS instruction happens in small groups or one-on-one sessions.
Students may:

Work on reading comprehension, fluency, or vocabulary

Practice math problem-solving and number sense

Strengthen writing and study skills
How do students qualify?
Students are recommended for AIS based on:

Classroom performance and teacher observation

Reading and math assessments

New York State test results
If your child qualifies, you’ll be notified by letter, and the AIS teacher will communicate with you about the support plan.
